This two-day journey reveals a completely different side of Uzbekistan, away from the country's famous historic cities and conventional sightseeing routes. From Samarkand, travel toward ancient Nurata, cross the vast Kyzylkum Desert, spend a night in a traditional yurt camp surrounded by desert landscapes and visit Aydarkul Lake.

The itinerary combines natural scenery, Silk Road history, nomadic traditions, Uzbek cuisine and traditional craftsmanship. The evening in the desert is a highlight in its own right, featuring camel riding, a sunset among the dunes, dinner around a campfire, traditional music and a remarkable view of the stars away from city lights.

DAY 1. SAMARKAND — NURATA — KYZYLKUM DESERT

In the morning, your driver will meet you at your hotel in Samarkand before the road journey toward Nurata begins.

The first stop is the ancient city of Nurata. Here you will see the remains of the fortress associated with Alexander the Great, explore the historic complex and visit the sacred Chashma spring. Lunch at a traditional teahouse can be arranged upon request.

The journey then continues through the vast Kyzylkum Desert. Urban landscapes gradually give way to open sandy horizons, creating a completely different travel experience.

By evening, arrive at a traditional yurt camp. After settling into a two-, three- or four-person yurt, enjoy an optional camel ride and watch the sunset over the desert dunes.

In the evening, a traditional dinner is followed by a folklore performance around the campfire featuring national music and songs. The remaining time is free for relaxing outdoors and enjoying the spectacular desert night sky.

DAY 2. AYDARKUL LAKE — RABATI MALIK — GIJDUVAN — BUKHARA

After breakfast at the yurt camp, there is time to enjoy the desert surroundings. An additional camel ride can be arranged upon request.

The route then continues to Aydarkul Lake, one of Uzbekistan's largest bodies of water, surrounded by desert scenery. Free time is provided for relaxing by the shore. During the warm season, travelers can swim in the lake or choose an optional fishing experience.

Continue toward Bukhara, stopping on the way at the ancient Rabati Malik caravanserai and its historic sardoba, a domed water reservoir that once served travelers along the Great Silk Road.

The next destination is Gijduvan, famous for its centuries-old Uzbek ceramic traditions. Visit the renowned ceramics school and discover the work of local craftsmen who continue traditional hand-making techniques.

Upon request, travelers can take part in a pottery workshop and arrange lunch with a tasting of famous Gijduvan-style shashlik.

After completing the program, transfer to Bukhara and finish the journey.

The itinerary can be modified upon request. Instead of ending in Bukhara, a private return transfer to Samarkand can be arranged, making the trip convenient for travelers continuing their journey from Samarkand.
